April 28 | Daniel Edward

Chicago

I am both a painter and visual arts educator based in the Chicago land area.  I was born in 1979 in Chicago, Illinois, studied art education at Northern Illinois University and currently work in my field teaching fine art in the Northwest suburbs.  I strive to expand the visual perceptions, visual communication and comprehension of young minds.  I envision my teaching career as leading toward higher education and eventually the mentoring of future art educators.  Though I spend my days educating future artists, I have never stopped the creation of my own works.  I feel that being an actual artist gives me more authority to educate on the subject because I fully understand the process and emotional investment it takes to be an artist.

April 28 | Madeline Addis

New York City

The strangest part of each day for me is the 10 seconds after I wake up where I re-remember what the past month and a half have been. shortly after those 10 seconds I start to panic about… oh, everything. (then I go on my phone.)

I’ve been marking days by how far away they are from really sad days. today I’m about 3 days past a really sad day. that’s pretty good! on all days, even sad ones, my most overwhelming feeling is wanting to communicate to everyone, EVERYONE, that I love them very much. I’m fascinated by the little-big-ness of telling people you love them. I want it like a big neon sign attached to me at all times. HEY YOU! I LOVE YOU! YES, YOU!

here’s a picture of a sticker I saw yesterday while on a walk. it made me smile — like someone else was also trying to find a way to let EVERYONE know their little-big message.

Madeline is an actor and theatre-maker based in new york city. you can find more about her work here, and follow her on instagram and twitter at @madelineaddis. also, she loves you.

April 28 | Anni Rossi

Brooklyn

Anni Rossi is a songwriter, instrument builder and performer hailing from Minnesota and based in Brooklyn.   “She stays on the move, with uncertainty wherever she alights” says the New York Times.   While a significant body of her work has been released and shared through conventional music outlets such as record label 4AD, Rossi uses improvisation, characters, repetition and movement to craft sound and song.

This week is off to a good start.  I performed some of my songs for a pre-school yesterday via zoom for 30 toddlers and their families.  It was a brand new experience and so was participating in the Uncle Richard project. They've both brought a lot of joy and playfulness into my tiny apartment in Brooklyn the last couple of days!  I'm feeling grateful for these connections.

April 28 | Ryan Zerna

Chicago

There's not much to say what hasn't already been said about the current situation, but I am beyond grateful for my partner, my roommates, PS4, and those really awkward family Zoom calls--I know they're just trying to cope, too.

Ryan Zerna is a performer and educator in Chicago. He primarily performs in Mocrep.
