Still trying to figure out the balance of what is good for my body and what isn't. Two weeks in, and I'm only getting further from the answer. Home entertainment has a new meaning. Not sure if there's a point in waking up before 9 anymore, or wearing clean clothes, or showering everyday. In times like these, I'm thankful I have a bicycle, a kitchen, and friends as roommates.

Japan

It’s been a crazy deployment with COVID-19 being the main focus in world news, but the mission keeps on and we don’t get to take a break. I’m not allowed to bring my phone or any kind of recording device into our work spaces, so the only videos I have are of my dog and hubby back home. And I miss them.

Michelle is currently an active duty service member who received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. She is married to a wonderful husband, Max, and they have a fur baby named Samson. She felt called to serve In the military after the tragic shooting at Pulse. She holds the arts and all of her theatrical experiences near and dear to her heart. The artists are infiltrating the military, and it’s for the best. She’d like to thank God for the awesome life she’s been blessed with. And special thanks to Your Uncle Richard for having her!

Chicago

Sometimes people ask me,
"How did your man's family react to you being Black?!"
That lovable band of weirdos?
Black was the last consideration. All they wanted to know was if I was;
A. Catholic (sorta)
B. A good cook (no doubt)
C. Was I in love (insanely)
D. And do I get stoned (nah) Thats it. Thats all they cared about!
And the loopiest of the Bunch is my Aunt Suzi
And my Samoan Uncle "K".

Jae Green is a poet, second generation artist, mother and cancer survivor originally from the South side of Chicago. Her poetry can be found in anthologies such as Tia Chucha's "Open Fist", "Smithsonian Magazine" and "Voices from the Heartland". She has performed at The Green Mill, Randolph Street Gallery, Uncommon Ground, The Chicago Cultural Center, WomanMade Gallery, The Chicago Poetry Fest, Metro, Around the Coyote, and The Catherine Edelman Gallery. She recently participated in BodyPassages, year-long collaboration between the Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble and The Chicago Poetry Center. At the close of 2019 Ms. Green began creating art with texts, graphics, photos and experimental forms. Jae hopes to merge her early exposures to pop and outsider art with her current existence as writer and performer. @threeleggedmonkeystudios @JaeGreen1234

Berlin

I'm stuck in Berlin (again) during this weird time and feeling so far away from home, even though I know home doesn't really exist. Who knows what the future will be? Will this crisis exacerbate all the inequities that are already in the world? Or can we somehow level the playing field a little during this enforced pause?

Victoria Linchong (aka Viva Lamore) is a Taiwanese-American writer, director, and performer from NYC. Much of her work examines untold history, immigrant stories, alternative communities, liminal identity, and myriad intersections and overlaps: past and present, East and West, low brow and high brow. Recent theater productions include BIG FLOWER EATER (Theater for the New City / Red Room), a devised multimedia play delving into the unknown matriarchal history of Asia through the story of a girl and her haunted bathroom, and DISPOSSESSED (Here Arts Center), a one-person play about being eviction from her East Village apartment. She is an award-winning screenwriter whose recent films include the feature documentary Almost Home: Taiwan, which unboxes the untold history of Taiwan through a family road trip back home. Victoria just returned to NYC after four years in Berlin, where she performed burlesque as Viva Lamore and produced the Full Moon Cabaret. She is currently the Community Producer at Target Margin Theater.
