Door County, WI

What a weird time to be alive! I work in technical theatre in New York City so I lost my job almost immediately. Definitely starting to have a hard time defending my BA in Theatre & Performance and pretending like I'm doing better than the hot kids in High School who went to business school...

I'm really lucky to be with my family right now. My incredible (and maybe masochistic) Dad drove all the way out to New York to bring me back to Door County, Wisconsin. We are both quarantining together in the basement. My mom leaves us little meals at the top of the stairs every morning. We are all timesharing our internet to continue classes / work / searching for remote work. The whole family stood out in the cold, 6 feet apart, for half an hour listening to me shout jokes at them from a crumbling treehouse. I'm trying to remind myself of how grateful I am for all of these things every day I wake up in the basement.

Anya Kopischke (they/them) is a New-York-City based multi-media comedian and producer of MA'AM COMEDY. Some people have described their work as "sincerely ironic" or "ironically sincere" (I don't remember which one. I'm not sure if I agree with either of them.)

March 29 | Ahniya Butler

Chicago

This week has been an eye-opener. I never knew how much we skated through life until we were forced to slow down.

Ahniya Butler is an abstract photographer/collagist, painter, and an independent curator. She enjoys creating works that poeticize the most simple things in life, leaving images open for interpretation and allowing the viewer to derive their most personal experiences from something as simple as a stop sign.
