Chicago

When I was 11 I went along with my parents to look at houses. I liked to look out for secret doors or undiscovered passages. I had no idea (and still don’t) how a house is built or how much space you could actually hide out of view. But the idea that an entire mystery could unfold all within your home was very exciting to me. These feeling are having a resurgence recently.

It is sometimes hard to wrap my mind around what’s happening. What I thought of as a temporary hold on things morphed into something else. Incredible how you can adjust to each incremental change, but when you look at the sum of them all it's a radical change in life. I’m lucky enough to get to be stuck inside. I’ve got a great partner, an apartment, a dog. I miss seeing friends and family. I mourn all the future plans that have been cancelled. But I’ve got it incredibly easy.

I’ve been cooking, watching the Soprano’s, learning After Effects, reading the news, magazines and the paper. I also spend a lot of time watching youtube channels about people rehabbing cheap old homes. I have slightly better understanding of how a house is built and what’s behind all the walls, but there’s still a great deal of mystery.
